Monotypes - Trees
Monotypes evoking an abstracted feeling of coming out of the woods and into the light. These are a joyful celebration of light, colour and hope as we move past the winter solstice and into the new year. The way the ink and paper combine instills the Japanese concept of Yugen, the subtlety in the textural quality of the ink pressed into paper. Beith means Birch in the Celtic Ogham alphabet. It signifies purity and new beginnings. This seemed appropriate because this series was started as my website was being built and as I prepared for my first gallery exhibition.
